Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Med/Surg Telemetry unit in Upland, CA. The RN will provide direct patient care to adult patients requiring medical-surgical treatment and continuous cardiac monitoring. The ideal candidate is experienced in handling acute patient conditions, administering medications, monitoring telemetry rhythms, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit.
- Monitor, assess, and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms and report changes promptly.
- Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, treatments, and blood products as ordered.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop/update individualized care plans.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, cardiac status, and changes in patient condition.
- Care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and disease management.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and rapid changes in patient condition.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – California
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Current ACLS certification through AHA
- Strong knowledge of telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Experience with EMR documentation
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing or contract experience
- Experience in acute care hospital setting
- NIHSS certification (if required by facility)
- BSN
