Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery is responsible for providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient care in the operating room.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures by reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring informed consent.
- Assist surgeons and surgical team members during procedures by maintaining sterile technique and providing necessary instruments and supplies.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition during surgery.
- Ensure operating room equipment is properly prepared, functioning, and sterile.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care and education.
- Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
- Follow infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond to emergency situations during surgical procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- Minimum 1–2 years of Operating Room or surgical nursing experience.
- Cardiac Experience Required
Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
