Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing procedures with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion. This role supports laboratory operations during night shifts, ensuring timely and high-quality specimen collection and processing in compliance with established policies and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture, capillary, and arterial collections on patients of all age groups.
- Accurately label, handle, and transport specimens to ensure integrity for testing.
- Verify patient identification and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment; report any malfunctions or shortages.
- Follow infection control, biohazard, and safety guidelines at all times.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab personnel.
- Prioritize STAT and emergency collections as needed.
- Enter patient and specimen data accurately into the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Current Phlebotomy Certification (CPT I or CPT II, as applicable)
- Phlebotomy experience preferred (hospital or clinical setting).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night shifts.
Compensation: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
