Per Diem RN GI day Shift RN – times of shift (12hr shift) - NO GUARANTEED HOURS

Pay: $35-$40 PER HOUR

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the GI Lab / Endoscopy unit is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The RN ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and works closely with physicians and other healthcare team members during endoscopic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients for GI/endoscopy procedures by performing assessments, explaining procedures, and obtaining necessary consents.

  • Administers IV sedation or other medications as ordered, monitors patient vital signs, and responds to changes in condition.

  • Assists physicians with endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies (EGD), ERCPs, and other GI interventions.

  • Monitors patients during procedures and in the recovery phase, ensuring comfort and safety.

  • Documents all nursing care and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintains and ensures cleanliness, sterility, and proper functioning of endoscopy equipment.

  • Educates patients and families on post-procedure care and follow-up instructions.

  • Participates in quality improvement activities and adheres to infection control standards and hospital protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.

  • License: Current and active RN license in [State]; BLS and ACLS certifications required.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; prior GI Lab/Endoscopy or critical care experience preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of GI procedures and sedation practices.

    • Excellent critical thinking and patient assessment skills.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and procedural setting.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
