Long Term Assignment

Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, and seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (CVOR RN) to join a leading healthcare team in Reno, NV. The CVOR RN will provide direct patient care during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in the operating room environment. This role requires strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a high-pressure surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons and surgical teams in all phases of open-heart, vascular, and thoracic procedures.
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate specialized CVOR equipment (e.g., bypass machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps).
  • Provide patient assessment, monitoring, and advocacy throughout perioperative care.
  • Maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment in compliance with infection control standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to surgical emergencies and changes in patient condition.

Qualifications:

  • Required Licensure/Certification:
    • Active RN license in Nevada (or compact state eligible).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through AHA.
    • CNOR certification preferred but not required.
  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of recent CVOR nursing experience.
    • Proficiency with cardiovascular surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques.
    • Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
